In general I have been unimpressed by the '05 vintage. The critics promised a vintage of the decade at the time but it never really lived up to that. The wines are very closed and thin on the palate. I like to hate on the 2005's more than I like to admit. I'm a much bigger fan of the fruit-forward and structured 2010. I have to say GPL's offering is performing beautifully. Signature Pauillac cassis and pencil shavings. Lovely menthol/anise characteristic which reminesces of old school Bordeaux wine making. The wine is in full development and in the early phases of getting earthy, leafy notes on the verge of truffle. The fruit is very much taking the lead. This is just a baby.
On the palate the tannins are rounding up quite nicely but with a striking acidity that I really love. There is a lot of structure here but very approachable.

This is Bordeaux wine making at it's best. Generous fruit with gorgeous mouthfeel making me want to drink it again and again. Dare I say it, true hedonistic pleasure. So delicious right now but this can go easily for 10-20 years. Too bad I could only find one bottle.
