95 Points

Sunday, August 27, 2023 - This was perhaps the star of a great Chablis tasting this weekend. We gave this wine the tall order of following a Paulee-style tasting of 35 Grand Cru Chablis wines from various producers and vintages. Prior to the tasting, I wondered if this 1er Cru might show up many of the Grand Crus that preceded it...and it did. This wine simply exploded from the glass with a salty, seashell nose. It was youthful still and extremely powerful. Complex wine. Even more delightful once the food hit the table - this wine is deserving of great food for the full gastronomic experience! Another huge winner from Raveneau.

11/18/2023 6:49:00 AM - Blair absolutely nailed it with his descriptors. Raveneau 1er Butteaux rocks in 2010 , and honestly only eclipsed in 2010, in anyone’s Chablis world, by other stellar Raveneau bottles such as the MdT, Valmur , Blanchot or Clos. The 35 or so varied producers of Chablis Grand Crus that preceded this were easily slayed by all 6 ( very consistent and spectacular bottles) of these bottles of 2010 Raveneau Butteaux! Whoever threw this into the Confrerie cellar was a vinous genius!
