Saturday, September 30, 2023 - Strong mature fruit, velvet smooth in texture, essentially no tannins, super long finish. I've sampled this wine multiple times in the last 17 years, and this bottle, which I acquired by inheritance, was subjectively the best showing since I the first bottle I opened in 2006. The previous 3 bottles I had, all from WineBid, lacked the strong fruit backbone that made this bottle so spectacular. This bottle was absurdly delicious and reminded me why I fell in love with this wine so many years ago.

9/30/2023 5:13:00 PM - thanks, and good for you; this is very nice to read, and gratifying that the chateau has stayed the course

'absurdly delicious' is excellent phrasing, the way so many describe, say, great burgundies, rightly and thankfully helpless as to specifics

the first great bordeaux I ever drank was a 1959 LB, on sale in the Boston area (w/ many bottles left) for like $12 in 1976 dollars, and I sure wish I had known what I was doing

but then I drank several 1961, '71, '75, '82, '85, and a few sundry in between, I suppose, until I could no longer afford any such

so this fine note takes me back; thanks

(note that CT has a link 'see all 88 vintages' but nothing appears)
