Unfortunately, even the weakest form of "slightly past its peak" sounds overly negative, but this is simply a case of a wine that is still outstanding, with nothing negative about it except by comparison to its younger self. I recommend drinking this wine now and over the next year or two before it gets any further down the aging curve.
