Friday, October 27, 2023 - Soft, crumbling cork, but luckily didn't seem to affect the wine. 1 hour decant, 60 F. Deep ruby color that shows no sign of age. Big nose of blackberry, tobacco, dried cocoa and dried herbs. Lively acidity, especially for an aged wine, slightly velvety tannins, alcohol and oak well-integrated. Plum, cassis, green bell pepper, dark chocolate and cedar on the palate. Lip-smackingly drying finish with lingering savory notes. Surprised that the Cab Franc part of the blend was below 10% given how much it seemed to influence the wine. Still has years ahead.
