Thursday, June 11, 2009 - Brief note, updated with second day impressions. Wine appeared to be in a place now where additional time wouldn't hurt. Very dark color, but not overly heavy. Tar and a little fat and gristle are the primary flavors, with less fruit then I would have expected. Almost a light olive flavor. Nose doesn't offer up any fruit, but instead is a complex mingle of dry tar, tobacco, and slight oak. Wine finishes with decent acidity. Alcohol levels aren't noticeable.
Update, next day shows more vanilla on the nose, and has picked up a bitter finish and a slight thinness to the body.
