Monday, December 4, 2023 - Opened my last bottle, along side a Cayuse 2011 Cailloux Vineyard Syrah. What a delightful surprise the Paloma was! It had been cellared since the original purchase from Paloma.
Notes from the group:
Faint nose, but still some fruit. Color is still dark, but no bricking.
Tasting revealed no sense of being too old - still beautiful fruit. Tasted like deep, heavy black cherry. Fully resolved tannins, not at all thin. Great mouthfeel, no hard edges with gorgeous fruit flavors that went on and on the back of the tongue. Still some complexity - the flavors kept changing. It's too bad Paloma no longer produces Syrah!
