Monday, August 13, 2018 - Terroir-istes International - USA - California, Napa General (Cape Town Law offices): (Tasted Blind): A deep black garnet colour; the nose is captivating with sweet fruits of goji berry, violet, blackcurrant pastilles, and redcurrant, resonating with black olive, Assam tea leaves, undergrowth and creme fraiche.
The full-bodied palate is supple with a creamy melted chocolate texture and filled with blackberries, cassis, shrivelled black olives, dry spices mixed with exotic notes of five spice and garam masala. Complex, powdery tannins give some firmness and generosity to the frame. A well-balanced, fairly expressive wine with a long finish that develops nicely. Still fresh and vibrant, there is an elegance and finesse to this well-concentrated excellent wine.
Blend of 80 CS, 7 CF, 6 Merlot, 5 PV and 2 Malbec
Looking to make this wine distinct. The culture has often been to have a bit of Brettanomyces in the wine. The wine is made with less heavy-handedness than many and they still seem to have quality and vision and passion into what they do.
