Thursday, December 21, 2023 - got a six pack of this on K&L auction for a steal.

Decanted for 90 minutes before taking to Steak 48 in Del Mar.

This wine is clicking on all cylinders at this point. Full mouthfeel, deep dark fruit, resolved tannins, yet still backs a bit of punch with the 20% inclusion of Petite Syrah.

She will cruise in the cellar so no rush to start frantically popping corks, but its so good now with a bit of air, so why wait? Easy 95, could tick higher in the near future.

Drank alongside a 2013 Hundred Acre Ark, and while that bested the Kata, it wasnt 4X better. So for QPR purposes, Kata > HA

I LOVE this wine.

Steak 48 is in Del Mar Highlands, just opened. Nice spot but a bit pricey. Run by the Mastro folks.

And I love Rare Society but B&R is meh in my opinion. Cowboy Star still my fav for SD steakhouses by a mile...

12/21/2023 2:13:00 PM - Blarmston I lived in SD for 25 years. I now live in San Clemente but my oldest son lives in SD and my youngest goes to UCSD so we are in SD a bit. I have heard good things about Cowboy Star.
