Thursday, December 28, 2023 - Really starting to love Mt Veeder more and more, so went on a Veeder buying spree to see what else is good that I’ve yet to try. So here we are with the ‘14 Newton.

On open, green coffee beans, fennel, thyme, red currant, unripened cherry, tight and somewhat muted except after several big swirls. Gave it 60 min of air with a shake decant and recork. Dark crimson but medium bodied.

Hits its stride at 2 hr, where the balance of fruit and earth emerged with the help of a nice juicy filet. Green notes disappeared and more black/red berry fruit emerged and classic mountain forest notes shone through. A nice rendition of Mt Veeder but not good enough for my palate to seek out more, YMMV.
