93 Points

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - Decanted for one hour. More red than purple in glass. Gorgeous nose of boysenberries and blueberries, with some menthol and bay leaf. Before the wine leaves the bottle, it fills the air with perfume. Blueberry pie on the palate, with notes of cassis, cocoa, pipe tobacco, cedar and chamomile. The taste is good and complex, but not up to the nose at this point. Long finish, but still a bit hot. I'm guessing that it will taste better in the morning, if I manage to leave any over.
