2014 Château Capbern

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Sunday, April 21, 2024 - Bottle #2 of 2. Cork in very good condition. Decanted one hour. Some sediment left in the bottle. Deep purple in colour with a watery rim. Aromas of red fruits, dark fruits, cedar, mocha, green stems. On the palate: replays but more savoury, leather. Full body, high acid, XD, m/m+ tannin, m-h alcohol (14.5%). Long finish. Shared with Nic and Lara.

Evolution since my first bottle in 2019 (i.e. over five years): nothing crazy, but more savoury now, and more enjoyable in my opinion. Overall, this is maturing nicely and is in a good place. Can drink now, but will cruise for another ten years I figure. From a 750 ml bottle, so if you have a magnum, I would wait a bit yet. Excellent RQP at only $29 (in 2015).
