Tuesday, April 30, 2024 - Nose: Blueberry, cocoa, cherry preserve, and red plum notes. Strawberry fruit rollups. Bits of mint, wild berries and spice. Palate: dense and silky mouthfeel, lots of glycerin, plum, cherry jam, orange rind, mint and some good acid to lighten everything up. Finish: pronounced tart berry notes and cherry preserves. Cocoa, cedar and some vanilla from the oak.

A large scaled glass of Napa Cab that has a sense of balance despite the size. This is very much in the style that Benoit likes to make, and reflects the push / pull in many of his wines. You sense the warmth, but just as it begins to feel like too much acidity and tannin bring it back. Much better than the last bottle and enjoyable, but QPR holds this back a bit for me.
