Monday, September 5, 2022 - Atkin 95+ Tasting Event (and dinner wines) (Strauss Auction, Cape Town (and Jo'burg)): (Tasted Blind): Abundance of aromas with Bosq pear, quince jelly and some straw notes. Impressively structured with a wonderful smooth glassiness to the mid-palate, linear, focussed and driven, keeping the taste buds interested and enhanced by a gentle, fragrant note (possibly the Muscat?) with a touch of fennel fronds. With excellent concentration, as expected from seriously old vines, the wine exhibits depth and persistence. It has richness and grace with a medley of citrus infusions towards the close. Lingers, cracking!
Blend of Semillon, Palomino, CB and Muscat, not sure of percentages.
