Saturday, April 6, 2024 - 2006-2008 Barolo and Barbaresco (Bologna): Served double blind.
It starts really subdued, with atypical hints, in a nearly light ruby glass. The first 20 minutes it makes me think about a F.lli Alessandria cru (but the organizer tells me that they usually have problem with mantaining the ruby colour in old wines). Over time it opens completely, showing all the elegance and noble freshness it can show, almost like some Burgundy Chambolle crus. It wins by a little over the 2008 Rinaldi Brunate, which I admit is more complex and complete, but it lacks a bit of such a rare elegance. 95
