Sunday, February 5, 2006 - This wonderful Syrah is just seamless, yet packed to the gills. On the nose, anise, smoke, and a hint of vanilla. The intense fruit palate is oh-so-smooth for such a young wine, with nice espresso notes perfectly intertwined with the thick, rich, spicy fruit. Soft round tannin aplenty, yet in seemingly perfect balance with the fruit and alcohol (14.5% according to the label). Not cheap - just under $80 from the winery - yet well worth the ticket.
