Sunday, August 30, 2009 - Complex nose with plum, cherry, spicy earth, and leathery notes on top of a considerable oak contribution. I didn't like this bottle as much as the last - the tannins were formidable and it took a pairing with washed rind muenster to tame them.
Tart cranberry acidity matches the dusty oaky leather and heavier fruit. Did I mention the oak? I think this wine will benefit from another 5 years of patience but it drinks beautifully now, given a little air.
