Monday, September 14, 2009 - Battle of the 1980's with Charles Metcalfe and Sebastian Payne (Merchant Taylors' Hall, London EC2): Youthful, deep ruby appearance. Nose shows sweet, dark fruit with notes of cedar and vanilla. It is still quite youthful - but there is also a slightly green edge. Medium/full bodied on the palate with slightly firm tannins poking through the savoury cassis fruit, but the finish is decent enough. ***1/2
