Wednesday, September 22, 2004 - First bottle of this bought back in May was closed, lean, unpleasant. Tonight, nose of black cherries, a bit of road tar, some dirt, and cranberries. Sweet, slightly decadent black cherry fruit framed by cranberry notes and tar, tailing off into black cherry and a hint of sour apple candy. This has opened into a wine of some richness but is still light on its feet, with bracing acidity and very fine tannin in the back. Delicious, but could really use another couple of years to integrate and soften a bit. Wish I had more.
