Monday, November 30, 2009 - This is a dense, ripe beast of a Spanish wine. I have to say that the oak is very well integrated but I'm assuming the 2003-ness of this wine strips away some of the more subtle notes that you'd expect from this bottle. Although I found some finesse in the glass there wasn't much in terms of definition. Not much spice to talk about and pretty much dark, forward fruit. I enjoyed this bottle but it underdelivered. The tannin structure was late and abrupt and not well integrated. It played the part of a tannin that could age well but the lack of acidity said otherwise. Drink it up and move on to the 2004's if you've got them.
