95 Points

Sunday, March 7, 2010 - First tasting of a Premier Grand Cru Classé, in magnum format. Great intensity on the nose from the very start. Started drinking an hour and a half or so after opening. Beautifully complex aromas of cherries, summer fruits and the oak coming through - though all in perfect balance. The wine tasted just as impressive as the smell, with the cherries coming through strongly and a wonderful lingering aftertaste. The structure and balance of the wine were clear proof of the sheer quality of the Chateau and the terroir, despite (allegedly) being a lesser vintage. I look forward to trying others in the future.
