89 Points

Saturday, March 20, 2010 - Drunk side by side with an 86 PLL at Bibou BYOB in Philly. Had the 89 once before also from my cellar about 1 year ago. That bottle was far better and much different. The prior bottle-beautiful fruit and floral nose with massive sweet fruit. This bottle- dark purple with cassis, lead pencil and mineral on the nose and palate with fruit subdued on both. Popped and poured and maybe should have been opened earlier and decanted. As an aside, the 86 was a disappointment. Had it 3 or4 times before over the last 5 years. The first time, just glorious, a 99 pointer, and the last 2 or 3 in the 89-91 range. This 86 maybe an 86. Somewhat harsh with lack of fruit and some funk on the nose. Possibly some slight oxidation.
