Tuesday, June 1, 2010 - Bright, dark ruby. Huge nose of blackberry and black cherry fruit, jammy, with cinnamon and clove. A fruit bomb on the palate, same dark berry fruit from the nose plus raspberry. Smooths out remarkably well on the midpalate onward, cinnamon and baking spice add depth to the ever present fruit. Finish features sweet tannins with pleasing texture, mildly tart berry notes, and a nice touch of acidity which leaves the mouth watering for more. The result is a fruit bomb that's extremely smooth on the palate and avoids becoming goopy or overly jammy. It's still a little too heavy for me, but undeniably good stuff.
