Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - Rich gold color. Nose is almost sauterne-like, honeysuckle apricot/orange marmalade. Lush body, I get plenty of acidity, tangy spice, more vanilla and apricot, all with a backbone of musky minerality. Something is not quite in balance though, I can't place it, which prevents this from being a few points higher in my book. Night 2: coming together a bit better tonight, whatever the elusive thing was that didn't feel right on opening is now gone, the nose has mellowed out/toned down slightly, but it's rockin on the palate. Bumping from 91 to 92.
