Friday, January 7, 2011 - First consumed at room temperature and it seemed surprisingly light in the mouth with none of the weightly ripe fruits, wine making tricks and oak that one typically associates with high end MR chard. Quite developed in appearance however with a gold yellow hue. Seems underwhelming at first and actually responded well to a short stint in the freezor. Fruit weight remained quite light but some class is evident with burnt matchstick notes and some quality caramilised oak. A little abrasion from the acid in the back palate. Seems a little wound up and even young but the lack of obvious fruit weight places a question mark over how much better it might get. That said, a well made drop that grows on you. Drink to 2013.
