Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - Dark, almost inky ruby red. Lots of violets and licorice on the nose and a more weighty, rich, concentrated mouthfeel than any of the other vintages. The palate gives way to leather and animal skin notes with tobacco and tea on the finish. Tannins are silky smooth, but not flabby. Best vintage tasted in a vertical of 1996-2007.
