Tuesday, March 22, 2011 - Popped and poured a small amount. Put the rest in the decanter and drank over 2+ hours. Ruby color, just barely rusting at the edge. Nose predominantly of barnyard, but with black fruit developing with air. Palate showed dried blackberry and black currant initially, but the fruit ripened and sweetened with time. The tannins were high and pretty dry. The lively acidity was a good counterbalance. Definitely mouth-coating. Finish was long. I don't think anything is to be gained by drinking immediately after opening. Was only getting better throughout the night at this age.
