90 Points

Tuesday, August 9, 2011 - The cork was probably close to disintegration through saturation so the wine needed drinking or re-corking very soon. Appearance was still a deep red but with a faint rust around the edges. On the nose it was scented at the front with black fruits and violets with leather or tar as back notes. The taste was slightly closed until it had been in the glass for 10 minutes or so when it opened out with good fruit, very integrated tannins and a long finish. A truly memorable wine if not actually life changing.
