Thursday, June 23, 2011 - Before going into the decanter: Sweet Grenache nose. Subdued and aged. On the palate, not a hint of fruit. It’s quite hollow, like it’s missing an essential component almost. Consists of white pepper and hints of garrigue. It all pulls together nicely for the finish. Still subdued, but showing more complexity with hints of black tea, blackcurrant, roasted herbs. After 2 hours this has more complexity. Tannins softened, blonde tobacco with some blackberry lurking in the background. Delicate, beautiful.
