Wednesday, September 28, 2011 - 14.1% alcohol. This wine remains open and approachable, though it wasn't quite as slutty as last year. Opened two hours before serving but not decanted. A touch of brett shows through on the nose, but it is a faint whiff, which quickly gives way to beautiful black cherry, dark earth, and light orange peel notes. In the mouth, this has settled into a more elegant structure, with red and black cherry unfolding alongside layers of earth and spice. Still retains strong acidity and has a long, supple finish. A-/A
