Sunday, October 2, 2011 - This bottle was open along with Siro Pacenti 2003 and Prieure-Lichine 2003 trying to challange Sior Pacenti in a old world context. At the opening Clos des Papes was less aromatic that Prieure-Lichine but was the only one with some fruit at the opening tasting. Two hours later CDP show an aromatic sweet smells reminding me honey and sugar cane. It has an acceptable front palate with an amazing middle palate sweet flavors. This wine becomes great with its long finish of more than a minute long. It really numbs your aftertaste with menthol like sensations. It is a terrific wine and my opinion winner of the night besides the amazing quality found in Siro Pacenti.
