Saturday, October 15, 2011 - Yellow gold. For such a young wine, this has an amazing, layered nose showing mushrooms, dried herbs, fennel and some apples and pears. I could smell this for hours. Medium plus, nearly full bodied. This enters with a blast of tropical fruit and then layers into some oaky, spicy notes. A bit of a dead ringer for California Chardonnay at this stage of life, but the acidic backbone hints at a long life ahead. The finish is clean and fresh and lingers on the palate.
A great example of old and new world elements in harmony. A delicious bottle of wine.
