Tuesday, December 27, 2011 - Sampled 12/26/11. Color has started to turn a little rusty but still quite good at core. On the nose, the wine is a bit past peak. On the plate the same up front with acidity and sweet tannins, but then at mid palate the wine turns. A solid core of black fruit that is velvety soft appears and lasts through the finish. Shocking in some ways. Normally wines past their peak will fade at the finish. This wine is the exact opposite. A very nice little experiment. Glad I've got one more.
