Friday, January 6, 2012 - Just a wonderful earthy soft-spoken Margaux from a great vintage. The nose was the best part, with currant, berry, floral, and soil aromas. Medium bodied. Up front you definitely get the berries, but they are soft-spoken. Mid-palate is mostly damp earth, soil, mushroomy, and cedar flavors. If it weren't so delicate, I'd have thought it was a Pauillac. Had it with duck liver stuffed pasta in mushroom broth and fire-roasted veal tenderloin with black truffles for New Years at Chez Panisse. I was most pleased to encounter Denise Lurton while drinking this wine!
