90 Points

Saturday, March 10, 2012 - Loire Odyssey, Part IV - Vouvray (Blu, Shangri-La, Singapore): Decently good, but not great, especially given the standard of the wines that preceded it. This had an unusual nose for a Vouvray. It smelt like primarily of pine nuts and retsina before one got to more typical lanolin scents along with a little underlayer of apple fruit aromas. The palate was very juicy, with citrussy notes of kumquats, lemons and limes at the fore with some green apples seasoned with a touch of spice and more pine nuts at the finish. It was very lively, energetic, which I liked, but the acidity was a bit on the high side when the wine was drank by itself, so that it needed some food to tame it.
