Tuesday, March 27, 2012 - Wine #A

Wine was tasted blind.

Appearance: clear, medium intensity, lemon.

Nose is: clean, medium intensity, with youthful aromas of green fruit: apples, citrus fruit: grapefruit, mineral: stony. BBQ aroma, almost like a charcoal grill note on the nose.

Palate: wine is off-dry, with medium – acidity, medium alcohol, medium body and medium flavor intensity. The flavors are as the nose would suggest with a hint of lactic or lees on the body which is not there on the nose. The charcoal aroma is not present on the palate. Green apple rides the finish. The length is medium.

Overall this is good wine for its balance. It is not all that complex with most flavors running in the medium - flavor intensity. Acidity rides the finish along making it seem acidified, but the palate is heavier than the acidity in the mid. It should be drunk now and will not age further.

A confusing wine. Maybe a cheap blend of some sort that makes the nose so non-translatable?
