Thursday, December 7, 2006 - I am not big on premium vintage champagne, since I don't think it's worth the extra cost. Not even sure how this found its way into my collection. That said, I really enjoyed this aged bottle which was in perfect condition. Pale straw yellow, fine bead throughout, all biscuits, butter and hazlenuts. Not acidic, but balanced and smooth. Had this side by side with a 96 vintage of the same wine brought by a friend to our annual xmas BYOB dinner event, and enjoyed that as well, although it was a very different style. Slightly sweet and all flowers on the nose and palate. Both very fine.
