Friday, July 6, 2012 - Pale gold in the glass with barely visible carbonation. Highly complex aroma - with honey, figs and vanilla. The taste is also layered - ripe pears, caramel and hazelnuts. The touch of sweetness from the pinot noir is clearly present. I didn't find any citrus in the flavor. The finish is long - it starts with the bubbles exploding in the warmth of the mouth. I bet there is minerality in the finish - it gets lost for me in the bubbles. But once the fizz has subsided there is a delicate dissipation of the flavors. I am not a regular drinker of vintage Champagne so this was a new experience for me and quite a treat.
