The wine was immediately apparent to all (even the non-oenophiles) that this was not your ordinary bottle. Very smooth up front, then BAM! hits you in the face mid-palate and strong finish. The first 5 minutes, this was not entirely pleasant. Then things calmed down a bit, and everything integrated in a beautiful way. Paired delightfully with food (buratta, eggplant, red sauce etc). After 2 hours it was profound and (again), much calmer, in a good way. I see no reason to rush to open this wine -- plenty of power and I imagine it will be much better in ~2 years, when the power is the same but the finesse/integration is more advanced. A tour de force and an exceptional wine.
