Friday, October 5, 2012 - Decanted 3 hours. Mature nose, typical Bodeaux Cab pencil lead, tobacco, and smoke mixed with creamy cassis. Closed palate, good acidity but little underlying fruit, especially in mid and late palate, thinning out to a washy, borderline astringent finish. Overall not bad, but an underwhelming performance. This bottle was more evolved on the nose, but very young on the palate. Probably needs a 12-hour decant--even though this particular bottle seemed to decline during the brief 3-4 hours spent in the decanter--or, better, several more years.
