89 Points

Monday, November 5, 2012 - A very different wine. I have not seen a blend like this before. The bouquet, especially with air, is intriguing. It smells like gravel and violets, with hints of graphite and something I can't quite put my finger on, but I think, black farming soil. On the palate it's acidic and seems tight right now. It opened up on the second day. The wine is light to medium bodied and light weight. This to say, it's a red masquerading as a powerful white. The finish is good. The wine hints at Cru Beaujolais but there's more to it than that. It's also different from, say, a Villages Burgundy. The Malbec, I think, makes it quite unique. It reminds me of what a red Sauvignon Blanc might taste like. It's very dry and quite terroir driven. Too unique, with too much going on, to merit less than 89 points. The bouquet captivates me.
