Saturday, December 22, 2012 - Still inky, black color. The nose showed quite a bit of complexity with some smoked meat, dark raspberry, boysenberry, and minerals. The palate seemed a little lean at first, but as it opened, it expanded into a lovely wine with a palate that matched the nose with an emphasis on an intriguing mineral streak. This full-bodied wine had the acidity to balance the fruit, and the tannins were well matched with the fruit's intensity. The finish was moderate with dark fruit and minerals to close. Overall, this has aged well and exchanged some of its youthful fruit for more complex mineral notes. Well done.
