Wednesday, January 16, 2013 - Opened at about 60 degrees as I tend to like my whites. Nose of red apple, white peach, acacia flowers, and fresh herbs intermingled with ripe grapefruit and chalk. Medium-to-full-bodied showing citrus and herbs with stone fruit and honey peeking through on the palate. Floral/mineral finish.
As it gets air, an hour later the citrus notes have faded, allowing the stone fruit and honey character come forward a bit more.
3 hours in and room-temp: green mango, pineapple, honeysuckle, riper peach, sweet herbs, and a hint of chalk. Earlier, I would have said the roussane was speaking more as the supporting grape...now I'd go with the viognier as being the dominant support. Probably liking it most at this point.
