Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - interesting. my experience is akin to kemo sabe's. removed the wax and some of the top of the cork was wine stained. some concern. but cork came out nicely in one piece and smelled ok. decanted and a big wave of lushness jumped but with a little "funk" to it. hope this blows off. left alone for five hours. little taste - hmm i remember this being little bigger and more lush. back into bottle and off to the tasting. redecanted and then poured into everyones glass so they have it in front of them throughout the two hour tasting. boy did this come around. now its singing and the table agrees. great color with a little fade at edge. nose again jumps from glass with dark fruits, vanilla and that deep lush spice. palate is complex and big and lush and comfy coating all at same time. now i find some meat and blood reminiscent of the rhone. just ethereal on the palate. still a touch of heat that is felt especially on the finish. but boy did this come around and flex its muscles. yum.
