Monday, May 20, 2013 - This was as good as could reasonably be expected...maybe a bit better. (Opened and decanted for one hour, then returned to bottle for 2+ hours before drinking.) When first opened, the wine showed quite linear, with an iron streak running through it. As it took on air, the wine gained volume, and the structure softened very nicely. The acid was ever-present, but the tannins were nicely in the background, giving this wine a resolved feeling. Cool red fruit, pencil shavings, and nice mineral notes merged very well. Well into secondary nuances...primary long gone. Mouthfeel was elegant - nice purity. This could probably hold, but I don't think one could expect improvement at this point.
