Tuesday, July 30, 2013 - Deep ruby with a hint of garnet at the edge. Classic and subdued cabernet nose of cassis, smoke, leather, herbs and cigar box is very satisfying. Full-bodied in the mouth, with ample fruit mid-palate. Sweet berry flavors are very clean (not overripe) and combine with rich tobacco, chocolate and Bordeaux-like earthiness. The tannins are very smooth and the acid is just right. The overall effect is that of an elegant, sophisticated, first-rate wine. Contrary to some reviews, this superbly balanced effort still seems fairly young. It will get slightly better over the next 10 or so years as the secondary aromas come forefront. It may even merit another point. 95 points.
