Sunday, October 6, 2013 - Special Friend in Town (Sons and Daughters, San Francisco): Deep yellow. Classic stone fruit pit, fusel and an almost distilled, grappa like aspect. Deep and dense, unbelievable dry extract giving this dry wine a deceptive sense of upfront sweetness. A whirlwind of stone fruit, vanilla extract and perfect acidity. This lingered and coated the tongue for several minutes after I actually swallowed it. Better at the end of the bottle almost 3 hours later-how many 23 year old white wines can you say that about? My last bottle. While it could easily go another decade, pretty much perfection in Riesling now. Absolutely heroic wine.
