Saturday, September 21, 2013 - Nice nose with somewhat warm but typical Syrah characteristics with smoke, bacon, herbs, olives and white and black pepper tones.
The palate however, at this point anyway, is slightly disappointing, compared to previous vintages tasted.
Perhaps a bit closed down on the palate at this point?
Still young of course, and will (might)hopefully improve, but not really up to the same bang for the buck as I thought the 2008 for instance showed.
This is something I have noticed in Graillot’s other Crozes too, La Guiraude, that has showed better in previous vintages.
Still, nice Northern Rhône wine, with potential down the road.
Let’s hope for improvement, as I really have enjoyed this wine in previous vintages.
