Sunday, March 20, 2005 - 1:15 after decanting – closed, tight tannins, some smokey plums, moderately long finish ~30 secs. Not an easy drinking wine at this point.
3 hr after decanting – opened up a lot, more pleasureable. Spices come out, still tart tannins, but more complex. There is moderate fruit, but on the mid palate, not up front. It’s also not sweet fruit, almost like the taste of dried fruit with out the sugar. Finish remains long. Spices come out, some licorice in particular.
24 hrs – about the same openness as 3hrs but most fruit has changed to spice, cinnamon, cedar wood notes. Tannins still promise a long age. Several more years and I’m interested to compare then to now.
