Thursday, December 12, 2013 - Two-hour Vinturi decant. Dark violet/purple juice with HUGE nose of big, beautiful darkish-red fruit (earthy plum-blackberry descriptors of Jeff Leve are spot-on!) and mild mineral palate on the 30-second finish. Young for sure, but definitely more than delicious right now and will only improve with a lil' bottle rest.
I think it's worth noting that I have abandoned my Opus One collecting and have replaced it with building a vertical with RM Reserve; it's a no-brainer as far as QPR, and more frequently than not, a more interesting and character-rich wine year-in and year-out.
